Commentaries (some of them cheeky or provocative) on economic topics by Ralph Musgrave. This site is dedicated to Abba Lerner. I disagree with several claims made by Lerner, and made by his intellectual descendants, that is advocates of Modern Monetary Theory (MMT). But I regard MMT on balance as being a breath of fresh air for economics.

Canadian prime minister explains debts and deficits to UK politicians..:-)
For his remarks about debt and deficits, see the paragraph starting “So, friends,
knowing these things…”.
He is nearer
the Rogoff / Reinhart / IMF view of things than the Modern Monetary Theory
view, I’d say.
Harper believes that surpluses are a thing of virtue and deficits are always evil. He really doesn't understand how fiat currency operates. Not an MMT man at all.
